Cub Scout Pack 432 - Anthem, AZ

Congratulations to this year's derby winners!

This is one of the main events of the year for the scouting program. It is an exciting time for all scouts and parents.

Pack 432 breaks the Pack up in to two separate groups, the Kinder Cubs and Tiger Cubs are one group, with the Wolf, Bear and Webelos dens making the second. Both groups will race together, and all cars will have the same number of races (The derby is not a Round Robin or single heat elimination - rather all cars will race the same number of times with a points scale based upon placement of the car in the individual races). Each group will have trophies awarded for the top three cars. Only the Wolf, Bear and Webelos winners will be permitted to race in the District races.

Keep in mind - it is important that the car be made by the Scout with limited parental assistance.

Derby Rules

These are the rules we enforce at our Cub Scout Pack race.

ALL CARS MUST PASS INSPECTION TO QUALIFY FOR THE RACE!!!!

The inspection points are:

The car weight shall not exceed 5.0 ounces. The official race scale shall be considered final.
The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7 inches.
The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 ¾ inches.
The car must have 3/8" clearance underneath the body.
The wood provided in the kit must be used. The block may be shaped any way that is desired.
The wheels supplied with the kit must be used. The wheels may not be cut, drilled, beveled or rounded. You may remove the mold seam from the wheels.
The axles supplied with the kit must be used. They may be lightly polished or lubricated.
Wheel bearings, washers or bushings are prohibited.
The car must not ride on any type of springs.
The car must be freewheeling, with no starting devices.

Each car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it will be allowed to compete. The Inspection Committee has the responsibility to disqualify those cars that do not meet these specifications.
